DIY Marigold Soap Recipe
Place 2 tbsp of fresh marigold petals, finely chopped, in 2 tbsp of warm glycerine and leave to infuse in a warm place for two hours. Melt 12 tbsp of grated castile soap in a double-boiler.
Remove from heat and add the glycerine infusion, 1 tbsp of clear honey, and if desired, food coloring. Pour the sap into glycerine-greased molds and leave to set.
Buttermilk-Honey Soap
- 3 ounces castor oil
- 6 ounces cocoa butter
- 12.4 ounces olive oil
- 15 ounces veg shortening
- 9.6 ounces sunflower oil
- 1 ounce wheatgerm oil
- 1 ounce macadamia oil
- 1 ounce glycerin
- 2 ounces powdered buttermilk
- 3 ounces honey
- 18 ounces frozen buttermilk, full fat
- 6 ounces lye
Makes 3 pounds. Measure out 18 fluid ounces buttermilk and put into an ice cube tray. Freeze for a few hours or overnight. Take out of freezer and allow to get slushy. Add lye to half buttermilk, mix, wait a bit, then add the rest of buttermilk.
Melt solids in microwave, then add to crockpot. Melt all oils except glycerin, macadamia and wheat germ in crockpot on low or med. Combine lye mixture into oils in crockpot.
Proceed as normal. Mix powdered buttemilk into glycerin and macadamia and wheat germ oils. Mix with the honey and add just before pour. I let it cure for a few days before using. Very nice.
Carrot Soap Recipe
- 10 ounces Palm Oil
- 4 ounces Coconut Oil
- 2 ounces Olive Oil
- 2 ounces lye
- 4 ounces water
- 4 ounces carrot juice
Mix lye and water. Set aside to cool. Melt oils together, set aside to cool. When oils are at 110and lye water is at 100*, gently pour lye into oils. Add juice to mixture, stirring constantly. Mix until soap traces, pour into prepared molds, allow to stand covered and out of drafts for 48 hours. Remove from molds, cut as needed, and allow to age open to air, 2-3 weeks.
Soap of the Magi Recipe
- 5 Ounces Glycerine Soap
- 1/8 teaspoon Myrrh Oil
- 1/8 teaspoon Frankincense Oil
- Bronze and Gold Mica Dust
- Ultra fine gold fabric glitter
- Oval soap mold
Melt 1/2 of the soap. Stir in the Frankincense oil and Gold mica dust. Pour into 2 molds filling only half way. Melt the other 1/2 of the soap. Stir in Myrrh oil and Bronze mica dust. Spoon over 1st layer of soap. Set, unmold. Give the bars a light dusting of the gold glitter and you have a soap of gold, frankincense and Myrrh – the gifts of the Magi. If you've frozen the soap allow it to thaw and dry before adding the glitter or wrapping.
Peaches and Cream Bath Bar
- 1 (4 ounce) bar castile soap (unfragranced baby soap works well)
- 1/4 cup distilled water
- 1/4 cup powdered milk
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
- 1/8 teaspoon peach fragrance oil
- 1 drop orange food coloring (optional)
Shred the soap and set aside. Heat the water in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Stir in the shredded soap until it forms a sticky mass. Remove the pan from the heat and add the powdered milk, sweet almond oil, peach fragrance oil and food coloring, if desired. Stir until well blended. Spoon the soap into mold and set for 4 hours or until hardened.

Castillian Orchard Soap
Note: If you've never made cold-process soap before, please consult detailed instructions before beginning this soap. It's the easiest and fasted CP soap I've found, and smells like warm cinnamon rolls!
- 16 oz olive oil
- 1 oz beeswax
- 8 oz water
- 2 oz lye
- 1 oz honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- grated rind of 1 orange
- (few drops orange or tangerine essential oil)
Combine lye and water; let cool to 150 degrees. Meanwhile, melt oil and beeswax; bring to 150 degrees. Combine and stir until trace, about 15-20 minutes. At trace, add honey, peel, cinnamon, and essential oil, if desired. Pour into molds. Unmold after 72 hours, let ripen.
Almond-Vanilla Soap Recipe
Yields 1 bar
- 1/3 cup whole almonds
- 1 (4 ounce) bar Castile soap
- 1/4 cup distilled water
- 1 tablespoon almond oil
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla essential oil
Grind the almonds to a fine powder in a food processor and set aside. Shred the soap and set aside. In a heavy saucepan bring the water to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer; Remove the pan from the heat and add the almond powder, almond oil and vanilla fragrance oil, stirring until well blended. Spoon the soap into a mold and let set for five hours or until hardened.
Cinnamon Soap Recipe
Makes 1 (4 ounce) bar
- Unscented clear glycerin soap
- 10 drops cinnamon oil
- 1 drop red food coloring (optional)
In a heavy saucepan, melt the glycerin soap over low heat until liquefied. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the cinnamon oil and coloring until well mixed. Pour the soap into a mold and let set for 3 hours or until hardened.
Wild Garden Shower Soap Recipe
This shower soap is ideal for everyday use.
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- 1/2 cup Orange flower water
- 1 tablespoon dried Peppermint leaves
- 1 tablespoon dried chamomile
- 1 tablespoon dried rose petals
- 1 tablespoon Orange blossoms
- 1/2 tablespoon unscented Glycerin soap
- 1 teaspoon castor oil
